20-character password generator

About this tool

With uppercase, lowercase, digits and symbols (about 94 possible characters), a random 20-character password has roughly 131 bits of entropy. That is very strong — ideal for a password manager master key or Wi-Fi.

Some sites only allow certain characters; untick symbols if a site rejects your password.

FAQ

Is this password generator safe?

Yes. Passwords are created in your browser with the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), a cryptographically secure random source. Nothing is sent over the network or stored.

How long should a password be?

At least 12–16 characters for normal accounts; 20+ for important accounts such as email and banking. Use a password manager so you do not need to remember them.
